Inland Feeder Online (2:10 minutes)
The Inland Feeder, a high-capacity, 44-mile long water delivery system, was designed to increase Southern California’s water supply reliability while minimizing the impact on the fragile Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. It will allow Metropolitan to take advantage of large volumes of water when available and deposit it in Diamond Valley Lake and local groundwater basins for use during dry periods and emergencies.

Solar Cup (2:02 minutes)
Solar Cup 2009 was held in May at Lake Skinner in Riverside County.  High school teams design boats that run on solar power and compete in two races: a sprint competition and an endurance event. The different competitions test teams’ abilities to design their solar boats for maximum energy efficiency as
well as speed.



Metropolitan Begins Generating Solar Power (1:14 minutes)
Metropolitan board Chairman Timothy F. Brick flipped a switch signifying activation of a 10-acre field of solar panels at the district’s Robert A. Skinner Water Treatment Plant. The 1-megawatt solar installation will generate about 2.4 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean, renewable energy a year, nearly 25 percent of the power used by the plant and equal to the power used by about 250 homes annually.

Spring Green Fair 09 (4:39 minutes)
Attendees to the fair visited approximately 70 exhibits to learn about products and services that are available to help save natural resources and reduce costs at home and at work. An E-waste vendor collected old monitors, cell phones, and other electronic items that cannot be put in landfills.

Watch the Solar Cup 2008 Highlights (5:50 minutes)
Solar Cup is an annual program, beginning  in the fall.  High school teams totaling more than 800 students build and race solar-powered boats at Lake Skinner, learning about conservation of natural resources, electrical and mechanical engineering, problem solving and much more.



Annual Inspection Trip (5:40 minutes)
On September 24, 2008 Gene Koopman, Glenn Brown, John Morris and David De Jesus led the board on a one-day trip of Engineering and Operations construction activities and facilities.



West Tunnel Hole-Thru (5:15 minutes)
On August 20, 2008 Metropolitan achieved a significant construction milestone with the breakthrough of the tunnel boring machine on the Arrowhead West Tunnel in the San Bernardino mountains.
